I don't have a dog but 2 pet rabbits and I'd save them over a stranger's child everyday, even though the decision is obviously terrible either way.It's funny to see some people in here thinking they are on some moral highground because they'd pick a stranger's child especially with the flawed "humans are worth more than animals" reasoning. Well, there is a sense of moral obligation to save the child - after all, letting it die could be considered murder and would be inhumane.

However, the relationship between me and my dog has formed a Deep connection between us, resulting in me having an attachment towards the dog.

I believe in the sanctity of life, but not specifically the sanctity of human life. In this case, I can see and understand why people would choose either choice, as I easily could myself.

Saving the dog would cause public outcry, but humans have always been inherently selfish, and a desire to save a life you have become attached to can overcome what we deem basic humanity.

I'd like to think I would save the child, but if it actually happened, it could go either way.

Second, your statement doesn't make sense. What do you mean with 'we'? Just because some people would rather save their dog's life over a strange kid's doesn't mean gays are going to get hanged again.

Not people thinking the value of ones life can easily be quantified. I guess you'd happily save a world top scientist over your own mother/father/best friend because the scientist's life is "worth" more.

I've never had a pet so I don't have 1st hand experience of that relationship. Would definitely save the child.
