Every musician needs hits. what are casual fans supposed to hum along to at concerts?
It's one thing to be playing Crazy In Love to casual fans now, but in twenty years? Still playing Crazy In Love, Halo, and Baby Boy?No new hits?

Not "she doesn't need hits anymore" being the excuse for her not being able to get one now
At the end of the day, artists are remembered for their hits and Beyonce hasn't had a real hit since like 2009 so she's not leaving much to be remembered by anymore

she's having a hit album that can't stop returning to the top of the itunes chart in all major markets.
Keep chasing streamed single success. streaming is free, pure album sales are not.

after almost 2 decades Im sure she can care less about new casual fans. and her fans or as you call it casual fans can't seem to stop pushing lemonade back to no1 of the itunes charts in all major markets on a weekly basis. your faves may need a hit to survive, bey doesn't

"She can't get a hit" that isn't true. She is not doing what it takes to get a hit. You need spotify now and you need a video on YT.

Her not needing hit singles was nobody's excuse for her being unable to get one. Nobody said that.

beys "flops" from 4 have more streams on Spotify than some #1's released the same year, I think people are remembering her music just fine.

So Michael wasn't a legend because he stopped having hits at one point in his career?
Tina Turner isn't a legend because she stopped having hits at one point in his career?
Madonna isn't a legend because she stopped having hits after Hard Candy?
I know it's hard to grasp for some people that a few artists do not rely on hits anymore after they hit a certain point in their careers, especially when the artist is as young as Beyonce. But that's just the way it is. She's almost 20 years in the business, only getting better with each era. She solidified her status as a living legend with Lemonade and has proven that she doesn't rely on all the formulas other musicians rely on in order to be super successful. She has reached that very rare stage in her career that truly sets her apart from her peers (and most other musicians from her generation will never reach that particular point for the record). Ryan T nailed it when he said that ultimately, she IS the hit.
Her influence on this generation music- and performance-wise goes beyond most of what you guys will probably ever admit, but Bey truly changed the way we want to see artists perform these days. We aren't happy with lipsynching anymore. We aren't happy with out-of-breath vocals. We aren't happy when we see somebody perform an uptempo song without this person moving along to it, showing off some dancing skills, working with props such as screens, lights, fans, etc.. Ask yourselves why we have this standard? Why do we nitpick every single performance of these artists?
Guess what? Because we have seen that it is possible to fulfill all these criterias. There was one performer that showcased that it IS possible to dance and sing at the same time, even showing off extraordinary live vocals after choreography. And this particular performer wasn't Janet nor Madonna nor Britney. It was Beyonce in 2003 when she nailed every single Crazy in Love and Baby Boy performance.

I don't care about hits, tbh.
I'm okay if she continued serving more songs like Freedom and Hold Up.

Rih stans keep saying hits matters, but watch when their comes a point where Rihanna stops making hits, and y'all are going to say "hits don't matter anymore". LOL. Honestly, I rather Beyonce be remembered for being a phenomenal performer who is able to sing LIVE while dancing at the same time and not sounding out of breath or have to rely on lipsyncing.

She's a 21st century OMNIPRESENT figure. Look at SORRY. #9 on ITunes with NO radio, streaming or promo. Just her 7 letter name.

Prince kept releasing albums and would have love them to have been hits. I would love to hear lemonade songs on the radio but i have never. even formation. hits would be nice and she wants them but she gave up on them by releasing this all at once as a movie. she hasent had one since single ladies. i love her hair in the hold up video

Yep, but remember that her self titled is totally forgotten now because it lacks of hit
Compared to 4 which has RTW. It shaped her image today as feminist, powerful black woman, etc.
Lets take a look at 25. If the era is over now, at least ppl will remember Hello, although the album doesnt produce any Top 10 hit. GPs are not here to remember your entire album unless those ppl are dedicated fans.

The gp does not know nearly as much as atrl thinks that they do. None of the people I talk to recently even knew that Work from home or this is what you came for, two current radio hits, were sung by fifth harmony and Rihanna. Why don't they know, well, it is because they couldn't give two s***s who sings a song if they are not a fan of the artist. Instead they just buy the song and/ or album and move on. If there are no radio hits by an artist, then the gp stops buying. Beyonce on the other hand, unlike Rihanna, has broken this mold and has some how manage to stay relevant without many hits, why, because she is in a special category of artists that most artists just aren't in.

The point is that her songs now are hits because she is a hit, and people know the songs without it having been over promoted, played in every grocery store. People know flawless, and it's stronger because the people who love it ... love it because they enjoy it, not because they heard it so much it was forced onto them.
And do people go to concerts to sing or to be sung to?
