Myself, on the other end, will not be dying just to die. My ass would look for a boat or log or something. But hey! To each his/her own.
why are you subjecting it to yourself though? you aren't the only human on the planet. & there are plenty of people who get put in this position because they put the child in the water & then turn around & forget the child is in the water or sometimes a child just curiously wonders into the water. you can have your eyes on then 24/7 but you're bound to slip up.
That's why you have child safety set-ups all around the house (which believe me, I would. I don't want my child dying at all), and a barrier around the pool, making the possibility of them falling in without your knowledge, impossible.

Why is it so hard to believe tho? If it was my 90 yo grandmother and a child drowning at the same time I would save my grandmother even tho the kid has a longer life ahed of him so it doesn't really depend on logic and rather on emotional bonding. I definitely have more emotional bonding with my cats than some random child.
And if anyone is guilty of the kid getting drowned it's his parents

Okay, taking away all moral aspects, the average life of a human is 75-80, whereas the average life of a dog is 9-12 years. Therefore the child still has so much more life in them, whereas a dog's is different and limited. It is horrible for both cases, but this alone should prove a child's worth
