To be fair Arabs in general don't use western music that much, they only know huge smash songs like Hello, Uptown Funk, Happy, etc..

and even without pimping her songs on radios, they somehow become known/go viral.
even without hits, people are rushing to buy her albums the second it drops.
even without hits she outgrossing girls with a dozen hits, almost about FIVE TIMES.

like i said, she's above selling a dollar/two singles. she sells albums and she milks her fans with her tour.

the one thing i will agree with you is yeah, radios in my country paid her dust last era and also this time. her songs don't get played here at all. but that might just be my country. we'll get to see how relevant she is if she brings her tour here. if it does terribly then I guess people don't use her anymore.

I'm a proud Beyonce hater and as long as she's absent from my ears (for being absent from radios worldwide), there's nothing to suffer from.

Cannot say the same about Rihanna's hits being all over the airwaves and the BeyHive being forced to listen to them and be reminded that, as far as popularity among the singles-listening general public, Rihanna is the biggest pop star in the world and their fave is a nobody.

If anyone was dumb enough to follow this "logic", artists like Cheerleader, Selena Gomez (3 number 1's on POP radio (Riri's playground) and Flo Rida would have to be deemed "big popstars" and not what they truly are: radio fluff. Get a grip: album sales, star/tour power determine pop star status.

I really don't like the whole alberms vs. singles argument. I think whichever of two increases the profile of its artist better is what matters. Like I have no doubt in my mind that Pitbull is bigger than Susan Boyle. But then again there are single artists who were not able to use their chart success to improve their public profile. Whichever works for you is what matters

You can have succesful singles and radio play and a high public profile, like really see Selena Gomez for this, but if you cannot translate that into a star level that allows you to be able to tour the world without releasing new music/or on old music, then you really don't qualify as "(one of) the biggest pop star in the world".
