The way he managed to wrap up those complex ideas and thoughts of his in all these catchy bangers is simply oitstanding. I'll never understand GKMC-fans who claimed TPAB was a difficult listen sonically.
Bitch, where you when I was walkin'?
Now I run the game, got the whole world talkin', King Kunta
Everybody wanna cut the legs off him
When you got the yams... (What's the yams?)
What an awesomely funky chorus.
I was rooting for a Kendrick win at the end there and am a little bummed that he didn't pull it off, but I do love Kill v. Maim so I'm not complaining with the winner.
Solid results.
Great rate also. Thank you so much for hosting supa.
No one could ever accuse Grimes of not marching to the beat of her own drum. She claims to have written a song “from the perspective of Al Pacino in The Godfather Part II. Except he’s a vampire who can switch gender and travel through space.”…and it genuinely seems to be about a space-traveling, gender-bending vampire Michael Corleone. (When will Gaga?) That track—an electrifying rave-up powered by an assault of drum-machine beats and a cheerleader-chant chorus—is also Grimes’ favorite from Art Angels. The voters agreed, crowning it the winner of This Was 2015.
Best bit: “B-E-H-A-V-E/Arrest us/Italiana mobster/Looking so precious”
A song "from the perspective of Al Pacino in The Godfather Part II. Except he’s a vampire who can switch gender and travel through space"
When I read this for the first time I laughed at how ridiculous this idea is, but it speaks for her genius that she pulled it off perfectly and smoothly. If you weren't aware of the concept you'd easily pass it off as a somewhat eccentric banger but once you read it everything starts to come together. Love this song and a truly deserving winner.

Right? The first time I read this was on a train, and I laughed out loud and everyone was looking at me like I was crazy. It made me lowkey regret changing my Twitter to become a stan account for her back then, but the album was decent and this song is much better than it had any right to be.
Thank you for hosting&for sending out every time invitations (which I prefer).
Thanks to this rate I discovered amazing new songs, such as the winner, Flesh Without Blood, For Free etc!

She made it work. But she also didn't need to make it all. I'm always left wondering why. It's such a bizarre conceit for a song. Was she just incredibly high?

I don't know. I think she said that she stopped doing drugs after Visions(not sure about this).
Honestly, if I had to guess, it started as a joke and then turned into a somewhat serious concept?
Or maybe it started as a visual idea because this gif came along with AA:
Either way I love it!

Thanks for hosting supa. Loved the write-ups in particular hopefully we can have a Part 2 with the best album of 2015 I love you honeybear.
Art Angels is still bad and I would have liked literally any other song in the top 5 to win over this. Why I gave KVM such a high score I'll never know. Probably because it made me think of Cher Lloyd.
