Will Halsey be a one album wonder?
no shade, genuinely curious about the opinions of atrlers on this
after Badlands I can't imagine what she's going to do or how her sound will develop or how she'll evolve artistically, with other artists such as Marina, Charli, Lana and even Melanie i can see how they could evolve but when it comes to Halsey it's just blank.
do you think she'll manage to get the same amount of attention with the release of her follow-up album or will she fall off the face of the earth? how do you imagine her sound developing if at all?

One could hope. In all seriousness, though, I don't really see Melanie or Halsey evolving with that sound, unless they plan to change it completely, which could be an interesting thing, but y'all know that ain't gonna happen, so, whatever.
Honestly, TRF.

no because us Hasley stans are loyal af. ♡
here are some reasons for the delusionals anyway:
1. her debut did amazingly. she outsold lana AND lorde.
2. her fanbase is hella loyal.
3. she is talented asf.
4. she is good live so she can attract people through not only her lyrics but her live performances.
4. she is relatable.
this thread is so flamebaity.

Halsey is CONSTANTLY evolving; sonically, emotionally, physically and psychologically. Her growth from Room 93 >>>>>> 😍 She has her own unique lane that she carved out for herself and didn't go down the BASIC pop route. Thank you for your concert tho, boo. ♡

But the album is not that succesful, but I think that she will go pop or edm, the way she is dressing now, gives me Gaga vibes like she really wants to be a pop star she will probably do but her fanbase is filled with arrogant teenagers that think they are too good for pop music so they will probably leave her so she will have to make really good bops so the gays will embrace her.

Now I love Halsey but you cannot be serious when you say 'Colors' is growth from a song as amazing and meaningful as 'Is There Somewhere'

I can't tell if Amoeba and cybiko are trolling or not But, just in the case they're not, btw, it didn't outsell Lana or Lorde, ffs, it barely reached Gold thanks to streaming points (when in reality, it barely sold 200k). None of her singles reached the top 50, hell, if you think about it, Carly Rae Jepsen had more success with Emotion (she had "I Really Like You", is huge in Japan, and had actual critical acclaim). Her sole "impact" is that of her Tumblr fanbase (and the enormous hype that her label tried to built for her), at least Lana and Lorde crossed-over to IRL fame. While it seems like Halsey is yet to break that barrier, and probably never will.
Honestly, TRF.

I think she'll still go pop for her next era and do decent numbers

Ironic because if someone won't be able to evolve, it's Melanie. She can't repeat the baby-theme...
Halsey has a lot of potential. Her album is phenomenal.

Um, I think Halsey has a lot more room to evolve than Melanie's blend of baby-talk and circus music.
I understand the sentiment, but Melanie's the one who's gonna have to come up with a completely new sound. Given Halsey's more well-received material includes Colors and New Americana, it's likely she'll just end up going full pop with alternative lyrics.

you should listen to Night Mime and Bombs On Monday by Melanie, they were made for Crybaby but didn't make it bc they don't have the child themes in them. I think an album full of songs like those would be great.
O/t: yeah Halsey definitely hasn't outsold Lana lmao

If Badlands could debut at #2 without having any songs chart on the Hot 100 then I don't see why her second album can't do the same.

In what world can Melanie evolve but Halsey can't?
Melanie dug herself a hole with this baby crap
