I'm from Louisiana and I hope JBE would be a good Governor in the end. I wouldn't go as far as say I want him to become POTUS one day, but him being for guns and pro-life is not that bad.

He's still a Democrat, and is for everything else Dems are for (pro-gay, Common Core, health care, etc.) He's def not a DINO. Many of the Louisiana Democrats are in fact moderate/conservative.

Bel Edwards is more suited for governor than President, and I don't think the progressive wing would ever accept him. He's a Democrat, but he's a Blue Dog for sure. There's nothing wrong with that, as that's how Southern Democrats win elections. It just doesn't make him appealing as a national figure.

Seconded @ Mitch Landrieu running for Senate. I think he's too liberal to win a statewide race, though.

Blue Dogs or "DINOs" really aren't bad. You can't run a New York Democrat in Texas and expect to win (see Wendy Davis). You win by appealing to the constituents and beliefs of a certain area, and that means going more conservative in the South. Ideological purity can only exist in the most liberal or the most conservative states.

The same is true for RINOs and Republicans in more liberal states. I'm not sure why the ideological extremes of both parties demonize anyone closer to the center. I'm sure Tea Partiers in Massachusetts preferred Scott Brown to Elizabeth Warren, and I know Democrats in Louisiana prefer Bel Edwards to Jindal or Vitter.

I'm glad JBE played it safe. Ended discrimination of LGBT state workers while still taking religious liberty and freedom into consideration. Louisiana is slowly moving to the left. SLOWLY. We have to cater to the right a bit if we want Hillary to win the state.

Emily's List is a great PAC that supports female Democratic candidates seeking congressional and governor seats. It's unnerving that Bernie attacks them for not endorsing a person who backed him when they have endorsed women who back Bernie.

In his email for Lucy Flores, a House candidate in Nevada, Sanders writes that her story “will probably anger you, but hopefully, it will also inspire you to take action in support of” Flores. The Vermont senator writes that EMILY’s List endorsed Flores when she ran in 2014, calling her an “inspiring community leader.” But, he said, that changed in the 2016 cycle: “But then Lucy Flores endorsed our political revolution before the Nevada caucus, and everything changed. EMILY’s List decided to endorse a different person in Lucy’s House race this time around. So I want to support Lucy like she’s supported us, because we stand together,” writes Sanders.

But EMILY’s List does, in fact, back some candidates who have endorsed Sanders. And that includes Pramila Jayapal, a House candidate in Washington who also got a round of fundraising emails from Sanders on Monday — though with a message that didn’t mention EMILY’s List. The group also backs Vermont gubernatorial candidate Sue Minter, another Sanders supporter.

“Bernie Sanders believes the political revolution is built by calling women leaders ‘unqualified’ and calling abortion a ‘social issue.’ So it’s not surprising at all that he doesn’t get what we do and has resorted to these false, disingenuous attacks,” said Marcy Stech, the group’s communications director. “Perhaps if Sanders stuck to issues, not insults, he’d realize that electing pro-Democratic women is, in fact, revolutionary. The key difference is, we don’t just talk about it — we know how to get it done.”
