Because we're in a deficit and we don't even know how we're paying back our state budget. Taxes are being raised across the board and we are using the $7.25 minimum wage. Our governor is pushing for $8 now, but so far our Legislature is saying no. We are about to have budget cuts for health care services and colleges and our TOPS scholarship programs which help fund most of the tuitions are being cut. That was our "free college", and now look what is happening to it.

We have already been on the free college tuition argument in here. It WILL have a negative impact on the middle class and our education system around the country so think about what it would do to Louisiana, the state at #50 for ranks of the country's educational system. We can't afford it.

I think $10 or $12 is a fair federal minimum wage, then other states/cities should raise their min wage to $15 or higher, i.e. Los Angles and New York City. The State of Indiana forbids local governments from raising their minimum wage independently. I wonder how many states are like that.

States that voted more for Democrats in the most recent presidential elections do get more delegates. Population is accounted for too. I'm not sure the formula. That's why Florida has almost as much as delegates as Texas does, despite Texas having a much higher population. Also, New York has way more delegates than either Texas or Florida despite having a lower population than both. And California has DOUBLE the delegates of Texas and Florida. Its population is higher, but it is no where near double.

$15 still wouldn't be enough to live in NYC, but thankfully most cities in the country are like that.

Minimum wage is like 8.25 in MD. 15 would be nice but it needs to get there gradually. Ain't no body gonna be making $15 that quickly, part of the reason I support Hillary's plan for economic growth

Bernie doesn't plan on changing the minimum wage overnight It'd be over the course of five years at minimum.
