Obama's been called a socialist his entire time in office, hence the rise in people who identify as socialist now. Plus he's not advocating for our country to become a full socialist country, just that it should adopt more socialist polices as seen in other countries.
The rape essays are over 40 years old and are taken out of context. They can use them but it's nothing compared to republican's rhetoric towards women.
And Bernie's also not running as Obama 2.0, which is wise because after 8 years, a lot of Americans are going to want change and usually that means they vote the other party. This time you still have someone who supports most of Obama's policies (and yes he does despite what the Clinton Bots think) but also wants to do something different.
Sanders doesn't have the honest and trustworthy deficit that most politicians have. A lot of Americans believe that he cares about the middle class and wants to rebuild our country. People may not agree with his policy but they do find him trustworthy which will go a long way in a GE.
