Buying a digital EP of one song with 4 remixes is basically the same as buying a store single with 4 remixes so I can see why Billboard counted them and tried to somewhat revive the chart. But yeah the chart is so dead now they need to discontinue it.

It isn't inaccurate. And it's because it was very common for artists to put out remix EPs or package an A-side with a B-side.
The only problem is that Billboard completely ignores the info and never shares it. But this chart allows them to weigh those purchases of remix EPs (which can cost up to $7.99) more heavily than just a song purchase.
