Top 50 Singles:
#15. Jennifer Hudson - If This Isn't Love
Effie Jennifer Hudson's second single "If This ISn't Love" was amazing! "If This Isn't Love" wasn't really promoted or anything, so it obviously wasn't a huge single for her (like her lead, "Spotlight"). I don't really know what else to write about J. Hud without goinging into the tragic year she had, so.....on to the next one!
#14.Keyshia Cole - Trust (feat. Monica)
YASSSSSSS! The duet of the year, "Trust"! Off-Keyshia and Mo'hood banded together to
re-record one of Keyshia's left-over tracks release this amazing duet! sure, all the notes are perfect, but when was the last tme two moderatelyrelevant R&B females joined together to record a duet this "kinda-epic"? Keyshia came into her own with "A Different Me", and invited Monica along for the ride with this epic duet.
#13. Day26 - Imma Put It On Her (feat. Yung Joc & Diddy)
The first (and only real single) off of "Forever In A Day", "Imma Put In On Her" was a great single for Day26 (or as Bart referred to them in my "Best Of 2008",
"Anonymous Black Men". I'd LOVE to sit here and write about how this song flopped, but their shenanigans on the last season of Making The Band 4 were FAR more entertaining. Wonder how Que will be feeding his family NOW that he's
unemployed.
#12. LeToya - Regret (feat. Ludacris)
LeToya's first of three appearances this year, "Regret" was released as the third single off of LeToya's sophomore album, "Lady Love". A LOT of fans thought this should have been the lead single from jump, and at first, I disagreed, but seeing how the song was a hit on the R&B charts without a proper release and fan support, I've changed my mind. The sassy mid-tempo also has Ludacris playing the new man during his "rent-a-rap" verse, and he adds a nice touch to the song.
#11. Jeremih - Birthday Sex
GIRL YOU KNOW I-I-I Ahh, Jerimih's
only hit single, "Birthday Sex" comes in at #11 this year! don't front, you LIKED "Birthday Sex", and you caught yourself singing it every now and then! Sure, the song itself was cheesy, but the song was catchy as HELL! ! It's kinda sad that there's a good 99% chance that he won't ever duplicate the success that he saw with "Birthday Sex", but if he proves me wrong, I'll say I was wrong.
Alright, so we've FINALLY gotten to the 10 songs that TRULY matter; my Top 10 singles of 2009! I will post #10 soon!
