Britney has zero classics.

She was only relevant, musically, for one year (even banned from performing at the Grammys after 2000),

'Oops! ... I did it again' spent 3 weeks in the top 10. Her 3rd and 4th lead singles didn't make the top 10 at all.

The majority of her career was spent as Paris Hilton-esque socialite providing tabloids with an arsenal of daily content.

When people take the time to reflect upon early 2000s pop culture, they only remember her as a joke
(arguably less respected than any member of the Kardashian Klan).

If Toxic isn't a classic then why do I often hear people sing it?

I hear it literally every time we discuss dangerous chemicals in chemistry class. My friends always sing the hook when the toxic sign is in the textbook. But I must be mistaken, because it's not remembered.

The thing people have to understand, especially about Britney's career, is that chart positions do not equate to impact. Many of Britney's singles from her self-titled album and ITZ fared awfully on the Hot 100 due to her radio ban and other circumstances that often were stacked up against her, but they are still hugely remembered and some are iconic songs that are referenced often in the media and popular culture. Just because you all think numbers are the only way to judge a successful and impactful song, doesn't mean that's actually how the world works.
