yass, mariah debuted in the 70's, but remember that she was already singing back-up for Diana Ross, The Jackson 5 and Elvis in the 60's and late 50's.. so please, we should include her pre Hot 100 #1's too.
Her career is outstanding.. I mean debuting in 1956, then releasing the debut album in 1970, but only getting mainstream success in 1990 (34 years into her career).
Mariah always wins. And despite her being 81 years old, she looks 34 right now.
