You're missing the point that the album was intentionally spread by Rihanna herself as well as other music sites, blogs, etc. How can you compare this to an album leaking anonymously and not publicly displayed to an album whose free download link was promoted by the artist herself and other sites?

From my understanding though inevitable, when an album leaks the label wants to do whatever possible to minimize the loss of sales. This clearly wasn't the case here.

If the album leaked on it's own, you would've known about it right? Adele leaked, you don't think a lot of people downloaded that because she didn't give the direct link? lol

i got 25 when it leaked but just to hear it, i bought it when it was released anyway.

and no one can expect her to do Adele numbers, but 1 million for a mega star ain't ALL that...

I would know it because I'm a stan. The GP wouldn't know it unless it's publicy displayed (people shamelessly spreading links, etc.) Which I agree does happen with other others.

However I just don't see how you can compare ANTI's situation with other situations involving the inevitable leaking of other albums.

There is no difference. It's just the NAVY trying to use it as an excuse to reflect away from the fact that ANTI is sales are TERRIBLE. The fact that Jay-z did the same but was also able to move albums speaks volumes to Rihanna's lack of star power.

All they have is a #1 hit that can't sell albums or ticket sales.

Leaking and giving it away for free it's not the same, and it's not hard to understand. When an album leaks mostly fans who spend hours on the web listen it, if you tweet "Download my album for free" even a casual follower could download and listen it.
Plus, it's an unusual thing in fact you don't see sites reporting an album leak, but when you are a superstar and you give your album for free, it makes headlines.

It's counted as US sales cause Samsung US bought the copies. On this very forum are people that downloaded it from outside of US. Don't play dumb that Samsung bought over a Million copies then only tracked US ones and never mentioned the rest
