Just chose my modules for second year. I'm dropping Spanish but at least I get to do a Russian module that isn't just language-based.  Let's just hope I pass first year now...

Help sistrens 
So there's this guy I've been talking to for almost a month now [on Facebook], I know his family and he knows mine since we used to live in the same neighborhood, he's a few years older (we're both in Uni but study two different branches) We've pretty much talked about everything, we have a LOT of similarities, he started calling me now after we exchanged numbers (he was the one to ask for mine) It was all going well until two days ago. It was the night of my birthday, we were chating normally but then he started talking about someone he likes that he met lately, and I felt kind of torn since I was giving my all to this guy this time, Idk why but I just told him I'm kinda sad (I usually keep my sad emotions to myself), it didn't take him more than few seconds when he asked me why and said "is it because of me" but I couldn't blame him for liking someone since there was nothing really serious between us, So I just told him that I'm remembered going through this exact same experience where you give your everything to someone and it still isn't enough. And that's when he told me I'm perfect the way I am and I shouldn't let such thing get me less confident about myself, and told me "I really really love you and I'm not ready to ever let go of you". I was really surprised when he said so, and even though it all seemed like he just loves me as his friend/ younger brother to me I went on and I said that have feelings for him and I see him as more than a friend, His response was like "Not that I don't want that but let's take it a little slow until we get to the point of a relationship", and I agreed with him on that and we kept complementing each for while and said good night's. The next day we talked pretty much like we usually do but here's the part that confused me, it was around 11pm when he called me to chat, he talked to me about how's his day was going and about his friends & stuff, but then he said that it was a really rough day for him until he met the guy he talked to me about before, and that he made him feel better and he really impressed him, I just took it lightly and switched the topic. We said goodbye's and he told me the usual "Nighty my dear sweety".
Now I don't understand whether I should forget about being with him and just treat him as just a friend since he's into someone else or compete over him with this guy I don't know and try to keep doing my best to win him over. or should I just tell him that I'm perplexed about this whole situation (Which I'm sure is the right thing to do but I just want a possible explanation for this situation before I go talk to him)
[I'm pretty sure that I made some stupid grammar mistakes in this essay so please focus on the content ]

Aw **** 
This is a classic case of close friend vs hard crush. You could explain how you feel about the whole thing but then there's the potential loss of friendship as he seems like a good friend.

I'd say just treat him as a friend. I wouldn't go and talk to him about it pretty sure he knew you were into him in that way. Try to put some distance between you and him because I think this is important because if you just keep on talking to him at the same rate as before it'll hurt you even more when he starts talking less and less to you because of his relationship.
