The amount of people asking why Work is not sung in English on YT Her part is sang in Jamaican patois on purpose. I think people would be happier if a song with a Jamaican dancehall beat was as Americanized as as Sorry, for instance.
you are not from the islands so you do not have any authority to state this. you have no lived experience as a member of this community so please, refrain from commenting or just shut the **** up.
Serving would u critic art if u are not an artist teas
so what when this song plays on the radio every morning, white people should sit in silence? Rihanna made a catchy song and put it on iTunes. People are gonna enjoy it, celebrate it, and cover it. It doesn't need to be spun into some deeper rhetoric of RACISM!!!!
While nothing is certain, this is a pretty safe bet. Both “Simple Song” and “Manta Ray” can be knocked out immediately, as they are two unknown, unheard songs competing against megastars and hits. Sam Smith’s James Bond theme can likely also be crossed off the list of possibilities, as the Academy just awarded its first track from the series two years ago when Adele took up the task, and she did it a lot better than Smith. “Earned It” is a great song, but “Happens” is an easy choice. It is a chance to reward Diane Warren, who has been snubbed more times than any other songwriter, Lady Gaga, who the industry respects, and to recognize the problem of sexual abuse against women in this country, which is on everybody’s mind at the moment.
I hope Simple Song #3 wins but idk if he's been doing anything for it.
People are just losers and NEED something to be offended by in order to have some sort of validity to their lives. Rihanna herself would tell you that Work is just a song for everyone to enjoy and that there's no deep meaning behind the lyrics. I can guarantee that whether or not the covers suck, people who are actually from the Caribbean would have no problem hearing a white person sing along to it.
Nnn, have you seen his IG? Drake swear he is from yard. And Rihanna ditched Barbados for Jamaica with Rude Boy. I do wonder how Bajans and Trinis feel about Rihanna and Nicki trying Jamaican styles more than soca or calypso Jamaica its power I guess >
GOD It Against Me debuted with 411K, a very impressive total. Whether or not it was front loaded has nothing to do with the fact that it earned its spot.
God, why do you want to offer up a suitable critique of a worthiness of a song derived from a culture you have no and will never have any association with? What do you really aim to get from that? Enjoy it for what it is, but don't you dare tell a person who shares a cultural connection to that song how they must react to it or its worthiness.
