I hope not. Fury Road has done better with all the critics awards, precursors (except for BAFTA) so far, right? George Miller has also been the most nominated/awarded director so far this year. I don't remember Nolan being that heavily awarded during Inception.

Well, if you want an example of a female-led movie that dominated critics awards and was nommed by everything, then had its director ignored by Oscars:
Kathryn Bigelow, Zero Dark Thirty
Globe nom
Bafta nom
DGA nom
NYFCC winner, NBR winner
NSFC runner-up, LAFCA runner-up
Boston winner, Chicago winner, Dallas winner
Going back a bit, a more personal slight
Ang Lee, Sense and Sensibility - no Oscar Directing nom despite
Oscar Picture nom (+ acting noms + wtg win)
Globe Picture (+ wtg) win & Directing nom
Bafta Picture (+acting) win & Directing nom
DGA nom
NBR Pic/Directing wins
NYFCC Directing win (& Pic runner-up)
LAFCA runner-up
[Sag triple noms, PGA nom, WGA win]
Boston wins for Pic/Directing
In the end, the industry feels perfectly willing to ignore whatever critics say. It can be painful like when Brokeback lost to Crash. Some (though not I) would argue the same about Social Network and Boyhood losing.
It can be wtf like when the above 2 directors didn't get Directing noms. And of the only 4 critics' circles/groups that sorta matter, Bigelow and Lee both won 2, while Miller got 1 of 4 (with the others going to Scott and Haynesx2) when his movie is a sci-fi sequel instead of an Important Modern-Day Story or Based On a Classic Novel. It *does* help that he's an old white man unlike them.
