If the academy is not comfortable risking backlash against their performances and won't stand by their performers, that's fine and I support them in their decision to host a commercially viable show. If that's the case, they absolutely cannot book artists like Nicki Minaj circa 2012, or if they absolutely have to then at the minimum they need to work very, very closely with the artist to ensure they will be proud of the things that that happen on their stage. You cannot invite a controversial performer to your show, sign off on their decisions and then turn on the artist when the inevitable controversy arises. That is so disgusting and slimy, and it makes me so sad and uncomfortable to think about how quickly people throw each other under the bus with no sense of empathy. I am an extremely competitive person, but I would just never use someone like that. I don't understand how people can do that.
