‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Crosses $1B At International Box Office
This is also the first time Disney has rounded that bend. The overseas take this weekend was $47.3M, lifting the cume to $1,012.6M. The global total is now $1,863.7M.
Biggest sequel/prequel ticket sellers in the US:
Force Awakens 99.4 million, over 100 soon
Empire Strikes Back 98.2 million
Return of the Jedi 94.1 million
Phantom Menace 90.3 million
No other franchise follow-ups even got to 80 million. Mess at the domination.
So about the rewrites for episode 8. Were they not going to feature Rey and co as much?
Glad that they're focusing more on the trio. I could do without Poe tbh. The character was cool, charasmatic and fun but i'm not as emotionally attached to him as I am to Rey, Finn and Kylo.
Wouldn't mind of the focus shifted to only Rey and Kylo.
Tbh it's more likely that they saw how hard they smashed in December with no competition and decided it was better to do that again than go up against all the other blockbusters. Isn't Guardians of the Galaxy 2 coming out the week before or after Star Wars 8's original release date? Pointless competition when December is wide open and ripe for the taking.
See Star Wars in December or don't go see anything.
