Wow, what an album.
I definitely agree that it picks up in the 2nd half. The only track I'm not really feeling is "Needed Me". Consideration, Desperado, Same Ol' Mistakes, Love On The Brain, and Kiss It Better is my Top5 at this point.
Kiss It Better is surprisingly good but it feels bittersweet after that John guy fiasco and it should be a single on Pop after Work, it's one of the few remotely appealing CHR tracks on there. Consideration and Love On The Brain NEED to be singles, too. Woo, Desperado, and Yeah, I Said It could slay on Urban, especially the first two. I was expecting a much more Urban album after Unapologetic and she gave us just that.
It's definitely much more mature sounding for her, it's gloomy, brooding, introspective, and alluring.
I have yet to listen to the deluxe tracks. I'll wait until midnight so I can buy the deluxe on iTunes.
Oh and "Love On The Brain" is probably the best thing she has done in her career so far.
