The one writer-producer who has been allowed to do his own thing without interference from the star is Australian psychedelic indie-rocker, Kevin Parker, of the band Tame Impala, who has supplied Rihanna with a dreamy six and a half minute space groove that could have fallen off his own critically acclaimed 2015 album, Currents.
Because it's not actually a song from that very same album or anything. Great music journalism right here.
I honestly can't see how this album could get less than 6/10 at worst. It has strong production, a good taste for melodies, decent lyrics and is a way more cohesice album than Rihanna's last albums. It's clear this album was made by passion and not by a writing camp. Even if you dislike it you must at least appreciate Rihanna doing something different and even releasing it for free.
