Maybe she just needs a ****ty "Slave 4 U" kinda moment. Just something, somewhat serious. Or if not ****ty, than mature and well-written. Maybe she needs a Ray of Light? Why not start at the more logical Like a Prayer, if we're comparing her needs to other pop stars?
She had a debut era with a few hits and okay sales (Madonna/OOTB), she had her breakout success era afterward (though arguably OOTB was more of a breakout than Madonna, but still, TD launched her into top star territory) and arguably her biggest after that. The next logical step is some measure of artistic development and maturation while retaining pop sensibilities.
I feel like anything that could be deemed "raunchy" just won't work. Obviously whatever she releases as the next lead single will smash, but if she wants another HUGE era like her last two, sex isn't the way to go right now. It can definitely be incorporated, but it shouldn't be the main focus.
