Fifth Harmony's debut album was delayed about 70 times but with album tracks like Body Rock, I can safely say it was well worth the wait. Actually, this isn't even an album track technically - it was shelved for the deluxe... and it's made my Top 20 of the year alongside a few more of their songs (which you will see soon~). Body Rock is an homage to late 90s/early 2000s British bubblegum pop - see bands like S Club 7 etc., and that entire sound that littered children's party playlists of the time. I would know as I was very much a socialite of these times at the tender age of 5 or something~ However it also sounds ahead of its time - bookmark me now and watch as this song becomes the pioneer of a new trend in pop music in a couple years. The song is bubbly, full of energy and celebratory no matter when you listen to it. It's a celebration of yourself and makes you feel so damn good <3

It took a while for Fifth Harmony to make a noticed impact in the mainstream and this was the song that did it for them. It took them from underground Tumblr/Brazillian Facebook comment fandom status to Billboard Top 15 peaking artists - which in turn made them the only real success story from the US X Factor. There's no surprise though because while I preferred their first two singles from the era, they are ghey as hell while Worth It has a much wider appeal. The attitude in the spoken verses (credit should mainly be given to Queen Dinah of course~) and then build up into the booming pre-chorus of "U-huh!"s and a racing clap drum before the climatic sax-riff breakdown was a winning execution of a proven hit formula the year before (see Talk Dirty, Problem etc.)

It's in that same vein of vanilla hip hop-pop that is actually super cringey by virtue but can be a real bop if you just let go of your inhibitions and get into the rhythm~

Sledgehammer is my favourite 5H song ever. It's so neon and anthemic - it would've been somwhere in my Top 5 of last year had I finished the countdown
