their lgbt club is one of the biggest on campus. just because it's in mississippi doesn't mean anything. the thing about people's perception of mississippi is that it's very flawed because a lot of the REALLY racist and homophobic people are too poor to afford college and are too dumb to be able to get in. of course there are some but the people you see on the news are a lot of the time just dumb rednecks who only plan to go work on a rig somewhere.
and another thing is that i've lived in mississippi my whole life and i've never experienced homophobia. i know that's not the same for everyone but i have so many friends and everyone's supported me. it's probably due to how i act and how i'm not flamboyant but still, i don't worry about being gay in mississippi...
