This is such a stupid post. Both of these acts depend primarily on a fan base, first of all. Had he had an earlier preorder his retail numbers would have been just as low. That's clearly stated in the article, albeit he exceeded expectations. Meaning he could've done 40k on sale vs 20k.
Secondly it's really not tragic. All of their albums have ultimately gone multi- and platinum. They always end up with being in top selling albums of the year, and their tours are huge.
If it's just the fan base allowing them to surpass hundreds and thousands of albums released in the year ahead of them in just 5-6 weeks, so be it. I don't see how that's a problem.
Katy, Gaga, Rihanna, etc. can't even pull their numbers on BB200, their singles as of late can't chart higher than a "front loaded 1D single" and their tours can't break even without going on 600 dates. And yet these girls are regularly called legends and queens etc. but 1D is irrelevant and are tragic. Because they can't reach the GP despite being more successful than the girls highly praised here? I'm sure they're fine right now.
