I think there's a reason to why you experienced your "worst" performance with the song you connected to the most. I felt the same way about some of my songs in my first season too. It's a real challenge to try to write something that is personal but also keep in mind that an outsider who doesn't necessarily have the same connections to the subject as you has to judge its technicalities. It's easy enough to write a technically sound song when there's a certain element of detachment, but when it's really special to you AND has all of the necessary technical elements right, that's how you get the really big marks. Just my view on it.
