Washington (CNN)With the first Democratic debate in the books, a new CNN/ORC poll finds most who watched think Hillary Clinton had the best performance of the night, but her strong showing hasn't boosted her standing in the race for the party's nomination.

Clinton stands at 45% in the race for the Democratic nomination, with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders behind her at 29%. Vice President Joe Biden, who is considering a run for presidency and did not participate in last week's debate, follows at 18%.

“One day we’re told that a shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama bin-Laden is public enemy number one, and U.S. jetfighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan,” The Donald wrote. “He escapes back under some rock, and a few news cycles later it’s on to a new enemy and new crisis.”

Maybe this wasn't a gaffe, maybe he purposely made this 9/11 comment to bring this up to attack Jeb with. That would be evil genius territory.

Anyways, I know 50% of Dems are pissed Biden is getting in. He brings nothing to the table Hilary or Bernie doesn't offer and his only way forward will be to go negative on them.

Now wait, you don't really think a Biden run will give Bernie a chance at the nomination, do you? He'll cut into both their bases. It would be Biden vs. Hillary and Bernie would get pushed to the side.

it's looking more and more like this wasn't a gaffe.

Trump could have brought up 9/11 any time at the debate or in the days after it. Why now after a couple weeks? I feel like 1) it's to take some attention away from Carson and 2) he lined up all the points he wanted to make + political hit pieces to make his point. It's too perfect that there are pieces out today on how Jeb Bush gave 12 of the hijackers licenses as gov of Florida, and this Buzzfeed writer quotes a passage from Trump's book making him look like a foreign policy wizard.

Trump is at his best when he's going after the Bushes. He's absolutely in his element and i love it (or maybe i just irrationally hate Jeb! and George W and love to see them fail)

It worked because if you think about it Jeb! is at least (if not moreso) as responsible as his brother who Jeb said kept us safe when in fact George didn't keep us safe...when the receipts are reexamined.

Joe could be insurance, he needs to get on all the ballots before its to late. If the FBI comes back with criminal charges against Hillary it's over for her. Why take the risk and leave the field to Sanders and the other clowns?

When giving a speech, Trump is really TALKING to crowd. He makes you feel like he's talking to YOU. He's not just standing at podium giving a speech. The other candidates can take notes.
