Same, but I don't think it is a bad thing.

My chorus tends to be more powerful than my verses, the verses I wrote add more flavor for my chorus.
but each to their own I guess.

How many of you guys write actual melodies and things for your songs here? Obviously it isn't required because it's a lyric writing competition, but I just want to know if anyone actually writes full, complete songs. In both seasons I competed I always wrote every song on either the piano or guitar and had full melodies and simple instrumentals for every song. Some of them sucked but others like Liar (S7) and Strike Twice (S5) are some of my favorite songs I've written.

I do sing the song to myself so I have an idea of how it would sound. Unfortunately I don't have the musical talent to actually write the melody down.

I have the melodies in my head and every now and then I figure out the chord progression of that melody but I can't go beyond thay unless I really take my time. I am teaching myself how to read music and I don't do it consistently enough

I can generally envision exactly how the vocal should sound, and come up with some basic ideas for the instrumentation, but I don't actually play any instruments or have any experience with those music / beat making type things, so I can't do much in that department.
