never include thoughts in a character's head in script format. Ever. 
If you really waned to, you'd write it as 
CHARACTER NAME (V.O.)
*thoughts in head they'd say aloud*
So it would basically be a voice over. But overcoming this is one of the big challenges with scriptwriting, you have to be able to convey what a character is thinking/feeling through their actions and dialogue without actually saying it 
 
Personally, if you're really only doing one of the two, I think script makes more sense (since AHS is a TV show and the actual episodes are written in script format) It's also pretty easy to find legally free script-formatting software online (CeltX)
