Okay suppose Rihanna became a global superstar because she was beaten (untrue but w/e)....how is that exactly positive for Chris? The fact that countries are banning him, he is local, forgotten, has a criminal record......I'm not seeing what's so great for him about this?

And Rihanna's had her share of media attention this year like the Met Gala, had 1 global hit with a legend and Kanye, and a solid US urban hit.

Before 2009 Chris Brown was so much bigger than Rihanna. Hence why the incident was such a spectacle. I guarantee you if Rihanna was dating a random nobody from Barbados and that happened it wouldn't have been 1/10 as big of an incident.

I literally was just trying to explain this to them. But you know they are going to go with "WW!" "BUT GLOBALLY" etc. "Who cares about local Billboard Artist of the Year!" Even though Rihanna was clearly marketed as more poppy and toward the more mainstream audience and Chris was clearly marketed toward little black girls.

I don't think the beating made Rihanna a global superstar. Rated R was right after, and as I said, it underperformed largely.

Loud made her a global superstar and established artist. The high-profile collaborations, the career revival, her first real successful tour, people actually caring about Rihanna in the sense if she got a new hairstyle it'd make magazines. Her starpower skyrocketed.

This very true, she had hits yes and her album sold tons yes but as a celebrity she was a no one. The first time I really paid attention to Taylor Swift was after the incident ironically. I mean ATRL loves to down play male artist and men in general but these are facts.

Selling 8M with 10 singles in the 2000's was nothing amazing, infact, people would've expected more (10M+).

So what you are saying is that she sold 8 million and after the fist incident she sold much less than that and yet the fist incident is what made people care about her? The stats do not support your point of view.
