Thoughts from my first listen:
-
Night &
Dammn Baby are THE tracks on the album for me. Both 11/10s.
-
The Great Forever is better than I expected it to be.
- There are some delightfully weird tracks on this album! I love that she & Jimmy/Terry don't follow conventional song structures on some of the tracks. Some of the standout "strange" songs were
The Great Forever,
Broken Hearts Heal,
Dream Maker / Euphoria,
Black Eagle &
Gon B Alright.
- The 2nd half of the album made less of an impact on me than the 1st half (on 1st listen).
- The alternative rock vibe of some songs (
Take Me Away,
Lessons Learned,
Well Travelled,
Gon B Alright) threw me for a loop! Wasn't expecting that for some reason!
-
Promise definitely gave me
Body That Loves You teas. I'll replace the snippet with the full version.
- I low-key wish there were a few more sex jams!
No Sleeep is perfect SexJanet without the vulgarity.
- It sounds expensive & immaculately produced. You can tell Janet & Jimmy/Terry spent a lot of time on it. I'm excited to spend more time with the album & see which tracks grow on me the most!
-
Night is definitely my favorite track, though. It's so dense, rich, joyous, soulful, & ethereal. Absolute perfection.
