I finally listened, and it is indeed a solid album.
BD and TLY are just WOW. And the rest are all at least good. I like that she took more risks with this album, but UV was definitely more consistent quality wise throughout imo.
With HMN I like that like her vocals were taken to a new level, and I love the subtle nuances in the instrumentals. It gives an added dimension and depth to the listening experience. On the other hand, I feel like the melodies were very thin and almost lazy at many points, at least compared to her prior work.
So, solid album indeed, Definitely not her best though.

Good GOD I knew I was going to regret writing this...
After a more appropriate, less distracted listen, I am shot DOWN.
I don't know even know where to begin. Religion, Blackest Day, Salvatore, TLY, Swam Song, and Art Deco are all at least 9/10. Her vocals are so pristine, and the way her "howls" are layered in some songs is almost haunting. And again, the subtleties in the music; sax here, strings there, but only for a split second, just to make you feel some kind of way. And I love how her lyrics reflect a much more confident, in-control Lana.
I don't know if I'm prepared to say it's better than UV just yet, but it's certainly tied or directly after it in terms of quality. I'm LIVING. So worth the wait.

My experience at the Honeymoon signing at Rough Trade East, 18th September 2015
Arrived at the venue about 10:30am and there was already a queue to meet her. Went in the store, upgraded my CD purchase to a vinyl and received my wristband. Joined the back of the queue, about 40 people behind the front approximately. The signing was due to start 12pm. About 11:30am, everybody without a wristband was made to leave the queue and we were told to have our records/CDs in our hands ready.
Roughly 12:30pm, the manager of the store came out to start letting people in. They let about 10 people in every 15 minutes or so and I didn't enter the store until 1pm but I could see Lana through the glass front window of the store. Once I was allowed in the store, we were queued around the edge of the shop floor and we could see Lana talking to fans and signing their records close to the queue. She was so sweet, spent about 5 minutes with each person and did selfies on their phones, kissed their cheeks and even gave a little girl a free vinyl from the store shelf as she had nothing to sign!
I waited in the long queue of fans until my turn. When I got to the front of the queue, the management told us there was a one signature, one photo policy. Although, it was obvious that Lana was just enjoying time with each fan and took multiple photos/signed other items you bought with you! She had a pile of gifts next to her too.
It was not until 2pm that I got to meet Lana. I walked up to her and she said "Hey! You look very smart and cute." I complimented her outfit back and she said "you think?". We were both wearing black, so I said "we match!" and she replied with "Two little goths, haha." She thanked me for coming to the album release and I welcomed her by saying I loved the artwork this era. Lana seemed surprised and said "Really? That's so good. A lot of people said they didn't." I assured it that it had grown on me a lot. She explained that the artwork was "graphical" and "suits the record" and I began to explain my love for Neil's photography work. We spoke about her and Neil going to do the shoot and them eventually picking her sister's shot for the cover. Lana asked how old I was and what I do. I told her I am 21 and just graduated with a photography degree. She squealed a little and said you're really doing it then. I told her that my friend had worked with Neil before and I have mutual friends with him, so she asked for my name and I told her it was Brett. Lana was like "Brent? Or Brett? Haha" She then asked for my full name and wrote it down on a piece of paper and put it with the pile of gifts. I told her how sweet she was and if we could take some photos. She took my phone and took selfies. Whilst taking the photos, Lana giggled and said "Just two goths" and kissed my cheek! Then I kissed her cheek. I asked her about Life is Beautiful and what happened to the track. She said she wasn't sure. She signed my record and said thank you! Hugged me and I said thank you so much, bye!"
It was such a blessing to meet her, she is so beautiful. She was sweet to all of her fans and I don't think anyone could complain about the time she spent with each person!

**** these "parental warning" stickers, like this is 2015, why would anyone want that **** on their album art, especially digitial artwork
Other than that, this is lovely.

I don't care enough to change the album artwork. I HATE it, probably more than all of you but I still don't feel the need to change it. It is what it is

So I just finished listening and I am a little disappointed. I was hyping this so much but it was a little bit of a letdown for me. Freak is my favorite song for sure. I also love Music To Watch Boys To, High By The Beach, Honeymoon, Art Deco, Salvatore, Religion, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, God Knows I Tried, and God Knows I Tried. The rest were good to bland. Overall her weakest album but still a good one. 6.5/10.

I'm not changing it because I like official covers even if they are hideous, but I like to make things feel more genuine which is why I edited the fan cover.
I have like OCD issues with things like that.

Yeah, I love it so much. I can't rank her albums, they're all so close to me for different reasons. Honeymoon is so romantic, UV is edgy and dark, Paradise is poetic and Born to Die is a classic

The one thing i have to say regarding HM and UV, is that HM feels shorter than uv, when you hear from the 1st track till the end.

I've never heard a bad story about meeting Lana. So excited that you had a great experience with her. And dude, thank you so much for asking about Life is Beautiful. Even though the answer was vague, at least you asked

Finally heard the whole album. I really enjoyed it. That 1-2-3-4 punch from Religion to 24
