there were a lot more issues than that. i mean, i think people overreacted to the shireen
scene for one but at the same time there was slight mismanagement. there was an important point to be made that they didn't underline it enough, and instead everything else seemed like it was rushing towards this *shocking* scene because they love to shock
their humiliation of sansa was also something they just seemed to languish in without it serving any greater purpose to the plot. like, there was just a general sense that they'd really forgotten what made people enjoy the series to begin with and instead just focused on driving plots forward for the sole purpose of reaching these shocking milestones
