They don't have an iconic/classic/hit
All songs are basic and sound the same
A huge fandom can't give you that GP also needs to be part of it.

Having No.1 singles are cool but they dont really need one tbh.
Soon they will have 5 No.1 debut albums and this next album is going to be Platinum as well.
To your questions: their singles didnt deserve to be No.1 except from What Make You Beautiful which is already iconic.

Two reasons really: their singles (barring SOML) just weren't great quality wise and they never really had radio support at all to supplement the fan base (SOML was an exception to my knowledge).
