In terms of quality she could easily make something better than 21 but yes I suppose after selling 30m records it would be daunting, it's gonna be interesting to see where her commercial success will go. I can't even imagine the amount of pressure she must be under. To have SUCH an huge era, with SUCH a huge album. Everyone is going to drag her to the pits if this album isn't BETTER than 21. which is going to be impossible.

I'm here for her new music, and even her 'middle of the road' music is probably lightyears better than the **** on the radio right now.

No shade but Adele's music isn't anything innovative anyway is it? Both her albums aren't anything that haven't been done before. Having said that, Adele's advantage is her emotional range, she could make a basic song (SLY) a whole other level - she's more of a singer/artist rather than a musician/composer.

Let's be real, she's never gonna outsell 21 and she herself knows that and probably keeps second guessing the new songs even when she doesn't need to. I'm sure what she considers a bad song would still slaughter any of the pure and utter garbage pop music is currently. I just hope her Pharrell and Max Martin tracks sound nothing like they've done in their most recent years. I'm sure they saved their best material for her though.

Please save sales and the industry, once again, Queen Adele. You're terribly missed

Anyone expecting 21 sized sales is very unrealistic tho. Like it's rare to have a smash of that size, but two in a row would be even rarer. I expect the album to do well, but not as big as 21, which is fine

Even if its not as well received or critically acclaimed its going to have huge numbers first week. So she'll obviously scan a million or two which in todays climate is fantastic

I'd personally say so in terms of the overall composition of the song. Like I said in my original post, her songs are basic (not a bad thing), but she takes them to a different level with her emotional range and vocals.

I wish everyone wouldn't see the term "basic" as a bad thing. I use it in reference to a song that uses standard chord progressions, typical structure etc. It's normally then the artist who is able to lift the song with their performance, in this case it's Adele.

I definitely believe this. Adele is very shy and insecure and her material being underwhelming is quite likely

Edit: why are you all saying "she shouldn't be insecure she'll sell loads". I don't think Adele cares at all about that side of the industry. Her music is very personal and it takes a lot of bravery to air your thoughts and feelings to millions of people. She's insecure because people will be looking to critique her work with a lot of scrutiny.
