They basically said it without really explaining much. They were trying to figure out about humans and likely wanted to help them "evolve"; hence impregnating Alma and Grace with kits babies. They also chose Kit because he was so forward thinking, and didn't have a bad bone in his body.

I'm also expecting them to show us Kits kids in a future season, maybe even in Hotel. They'd be in their early 50's now I think.

I think Coven was great, its just the last few episodes that are kind of meh and underwhelming. It's very campy and has a lot more humor than the first two seasons.
