^ I literally came to post this today, Mike.

I picked up a copy of
Rolling Stone in the store and spent forever trying to find the page on Adele's article. I've never heard that about Rick Rubin, though; since when did they "part ways"? She LOVED working with him on
21. I'm surprised he wasn't one of the first people she contacted about the new album.
As for the unreleased songs, I agree entirely with Ichi's statement about "You'll Never See Me Again" and "Never Gonna Leave You" not being as fun to listen to because we knew they were old songs. I still think that the label intentionally leaked those to make sure her name was still out there and then threatened to sue people in order to cover their tracks. But yeah, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I would not be surprised if the instrumental from "You'll Never See Me Again" was rewritten for "Set Fire to the Rain" because I swear, I can hear part of the "Set Fire to the Rain" instrumental towards the end of the verses for "You'll Never See Me Again." Both songs were wonderful to have as cuts, but I agree that I wouldn't want them on an album unless it was a posthumous compilation like
Lioness: Hidden Treasures. I feel like Adele would be an artist like Amy where the label would destroy any of her demos after she died out of respect for her, though.
