oh sure. I believe it disingenuous too. But still better executed.

Lana is another type of artist than let's say Katy Perry or Rihanna. I don't judge if better or worse, only in terms of where you wanna go, aristically.
I think that Miley, say whatever you wanna say about her, is actually somebody who well has talent to back up some things (and the nerve to even try it) unlike others who rely on hit production only.

Tbh I think the production does have hit value in most of the songs. But the lyrics are often pretty poor. Take Bang My Box for example:
A complete contrast in tone from the rest of the album and it really revitalises it imo. It sits ambiguously between funk and old western, you don't hear that often. The melody is playful and catchy. But the lyrics... yikes. Leave much to be desired. It's vulgar and unsophisticated. There's typically some grace to the sexuality of funk, and she lacks it.
A visual representation of Prince's "
Breakfast Can Wait" would be a girl slowly undressing, teasing, it leaves you anticipating, whereas a visual representation of "
Bang Me Box" would just be a naked Miley collapsed in her bed, barely conscious with her tongue hanging out, yelling "come at me boys!". It's just lazy.
But it's a shame because the music is soo good.
