If you're living within the upper limits of your means, you're not rich, IMO.

This is an
extreme simplification, but I think of it this way -- if someone were to lose their main source of income, how long would they last before experiencing drastic changes in lifestyle? Days/weeks = poor, months = middle class, years = rich.
But like I said, that's a very simplified example of what rich means to me, personally and there are scenarios that don't fit into that like extreme high earners that live above or just within their means. If you earn $1,000,000/year and you spend $1,000,000/year, you’re still broke even though no one would classify that as "poor" (until the **** inevitably collapsed and the lifestyle reflected the actual status).
But like anything else, it's a matter of perspective as "rich" to someone in another part of the world could mean simply having running water and electricity where I consider those things to be among the most bare necessities.
