1989 has been completely ignored in South Korea because it isn't available for streaming. It could've been big... I guess? The same goes for Beyoncé, which wasn't available until the release of the Platinum edition.

Madonna is a huge legend. Lotsa impact on the gay community (the generation before ours tbh, if that Attitude mag special is anything to go by - they got their biggest reader response when they asked their readership to write in with their feels/experiences of Morguedonna).
Whitney dying was massive and she is loved and celebrated. Mariah stays collecting hits every year and Janet... Done wrong.
It's hard to compete with the dead. Nobody can say I hate Whitney, glad she is dead. Everybody can on the other hand say they hate Madonna and can't wait for her funeral. (This is not an attempt to stop y'all from attacking Britney btw)

Re. Lein: Eminem was/is big, especially LTWYL and The Monster to a lesser extent. Since Korean rappers and hip hop music have reached an insane level of popularity, American hip hop music is kind of a cult thing here, just like female popstars.
Re. Shaliydah: Janet isn't known; Whitney was briefly massive, obviously for The Bodyguard era; Madge is known for her '80s hits and that's it. No one knows what a Ray of Light is in real life.
It's weird but I got my life to Feedback back when it was released. It somehow managed to appear on a compilation CD of current hits that I bought and it stuck out.
