They didn't even know of Hotel or them connecting the seasons back then tho
If some of you are going to claim that RM is just using the whole connecting seasons thing as a way to cater to the fans and he had no intention of doing it early on, do your homework.
After the finale of Murder House aired in December '11, Ryan announced the anthology concept. And when asked if we'd see any of these characters again, he said something along the lines of "Who knows, maybe In Season 4 Constance and her Grandson in NYC or something."
So the seasons being connected is something that I'm sure has always been his intention.
Why do modern day if it's not going to take place in the year the show is airing, just like Murder House in 2011, Asylum in 2012, and Coven in 2013.
Id also like to note that at the end of Murder House, which by the time Vivian died it was late 2011, almost early 2012 they flash forwarded 3 years to what could easily be 2015 with Constance and her grandson Michael. I doubt that's a coincedence, especially with MH and Hotel both taking place in Los Angeles.
It's just an idea, and not a terribly bad one. One year or so doesn't make much of a difference

Ryan said we may see them again meaning that we could revisit that storyline in another season. Up until Freakshow started he kept insisting they were separate.

if you're watching the show because you expect to see gaga in extravagant outfits, you're going to be disappointed. she's not playing lady gaga.
