wtf I thought that Australia and Canada were like government twins. Ours is like everything shifted to the left. Our system is 1 centre right wing party (conservatives) and then 4 left wing parties (NDP, Liberals, Greens, Bloc Quebecois)

I was thinking this yesterday in the car driving home It's annoying when I'm talking about American politics and I will say I'm liberal and then someone will over hear me and think I'm speaking about Australian politics and its just messy grrr.

I'm more than positive nothing is going to happen regarding gay marriage until the next election. Not to be a negative nelly (I was super excited and had high hopes this time considering the endless amount of support from the GP) but I'm being realistic.

Isn't honesty the best policy? Just say marriage isn't for me. My sisters have kids and no wedding bells yet. One straight up said she won't tie the knot. Or are they religious?...

My mum thinks she's good mates with God and Jesus and Mary and all the characters, but over the years I've just sort of user basic logic to make her entire belief system come crumbling down, but she's kind of in denial and can't really let go and admit that her entire life has been a lie. My dad and siblings know they're just stories, but they think they're good stories to tell young kids rather than being like "when you're dead, you're dead." They're kind of agnostic though. They believe there might be something more but don't know what that is, because there's no proof/evidence.

But yeah, mum's still Catholic. And then everyone else are like agnostics/non-practicing cultural Catholics (everyone goes to catholic school and we go to church at Christmas b/c tradition)

My family is lay Catholic with only half going to church. My parents married civily and my conservative grandma for years practically begged them to do a church wedding. They did it almost two decades later just to please; we would've had one sooner but the first town we lived in had a moneyhungry church and had a long list of hoops. The corruption got so bad the priest left out of disgust and the town loved him.
