In theory yes. But then you have to think is it worth the extra work, time, and money. Some double majors take more than 4 years to complete. I mean of course do what you want and if those two subjects are your passions go for it. But personally I don't see a benefit from a career point of view if the two majors don't complement each other and you end up pursuing a career related to one major and never use the other. It's like a waste to me.

I actually go to a community college now. I went to a uni. first year but decided I wanted to transfer. Some of the credits didn't transfer so now I'm going to college to earn some of those credits before I transfer into a larger state school.

It was the same for me

In college you make friends FAST and they become like a life line. You do EVERYTHING together, nothing replaces family but you can quickly put homesickness on the baclburner, I didn't really start to feel it anyway IL until Xmas break which was when I was comming back because I went so far out of state

Just know you'll make friends and everything will be alright.

I'm studying English as a specific language, it's not my native language so I think it makes it a lot harder but I'm familiar with and absolutely loves it (they call the course "Linguistic" here in Brazil- which englobs all the aspects you can imagine not just the specific language we're studying, that can be portuguese or english). I'm liking it and the literature part is the one that excites me the most. it feels like a synthesis of every matter of the language itself, besides being the one with the most interesting subjects and best approach. A good course overall and more insightful that I thought it would be- and we haven't even begun to deep much into it.

Is there anyone here on the same boat or doing the same course, but in another perspective?

Advice to everyone starting university: network, network, network!! I cannot stress this enough. The job market is so competitive that no one will care that you have a degree, even if it's in STEM. You have to have connections and lots of good extracurriculars on your resume to land a half-way decent job these days.

Focus on classes, but don't think a 4.0 is everything! Getting to know your professors and what opportunities they can provide you is much more important than you think!

Double major until you know. It shouldn't be that hard with first/second year courses and you'll figure it out fast.

You can. I started on my major classes right away balanced with the core curriculum everyone takes. It just depends on if you know for sure what you want to do.

I sat front row and went to sleep basically every day in my Bio class. Got an A effortlessly. Been to two different schools and no one has ever stressed about Bio 1. Bio 2 in my opinion was way more difficult because of the intense workload. If you understand basic ideas in biology you should be fine with Bio 1. Still study of course.

For me... General bio was the most difficult bio course by far! I remember on our first exam only 1 student got an A out of 476 students in our class

I found it more difficult because general bio covers so much more compared to a specific bio course such as zoology or botany. It's also so fast paced because it covers a lot. I still managed a B, but I definitely found it harder than the bio courses after in my opinion

Don't mean to scare you, it's very doable though and you may have a different experience than me

Chem is harder than bio for sure. Organic chem was the death of me

There's an option to enter with an undeclared major and you would take mostly gen eds while you decide what you want to major in. You're allowed to decide and declare a major within those two years though. It's just that you can't be a junior/3rd year with no major.

Most people have majors right away when they start college...I started as undeclared
