You're missing the point completely though. Beyoncé has been asked to headline the Super Bowl halftime show because of her catalogue of hits, which includes the iconic "Crazy in Love." Britney has never been asked to headline despite her catalogue of allegedly iconic songs. Instead, she was asked to sing backup with Aerosmith on "Walk This Way," while NSYNC got to sing two of their own songs. Tragic.

How do you know Britney hasn't been asked? Lmao. Gaga has been asked and declined as well.

Just because someone headlines the Super Bowl doesn't make them incredibly iconic or mean they have a catalog of iconic hits (See: Katy Perry)

I never said that. That wasn't my point, my point was that Britney was not the only one doing the Super Bowl that year and it can't be attributed to her. If you removed her and added Xtina, the show wouldn't be so different. If you removed Beyoncé from her's, it would be an entirely new show.

I do think Katy is going to be more remembered than N*SYNC though. They were part of a teen pop trend and like BSB, their music is largely forgotten except in nostalgic contexts. It's hard to say with Perry but since she is one person, as long as she continues to grow as an artist she'll be remembered whereas N*SYNC represents one small time.

Yes? Scheduling conflicts, prior contracts, etc. could all make an artist decline

Not to mention that from 2005-whenever the BEP headlined, the super bowl performers were all old dad bands or acts from the 80s because of NippleGate. It wasn't until BEP and then Madonna that the Super Bowl asked current pop stars back.

Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and the Who all have amazing careers, impressive catalogues of hits, and respect from the general public and critics. Like I said, performing at the Super Bowl as a headliner or guest is still a big deal, especially considering how Britney did it so early in her career and are there not rumours of her headlining next year?

And there's no point in using the ratings for that year as it's common knowledge that every year the ratings have increased... (well apart from Beyonce's, not saying it was her fault so don't try anything, just stating in general)

Anyway, the question wasn't who is bigger Beyonce or Britney so I'm not going off topic any more.
