It has little merit but they still chose my fave when they could have just as easily chosen one of the other pop girls.

And Taylor's superiority as a songwriter isn't dependent upon some list from Rolling Stone. It's simply a fact.

It's Rolling Stone. They pander to straight white rock/rap-favoring men, pop girls are kinda rare on their lists. Kanye (and Jay, for that matter) both have multiple albums on their famous 500 Greatest Albums list. I think they each have more than Joni Mitchell.

So the two of them being higher than Taylor is no surprise.

That's not really what I meant.

I was just trying to say that it's kinda telling that they chose Taylor out of all available options. Do I personally think that She's a better writer than the girls they excluded (Adele, Gaga, etc), yes. But I'm not going to put any more value in this list because my fave is on it than I would have if She hadn't been on it.
