I disagree, and I don't see any strong argument for why violence from women is criticized less seriously than violence from men. If anything, there is basically a void of authentic women-driven violence, since virtually all instances are sexualized or aesthetically playful--Bad Blood, BBHMM, Mean Girls: maybe that's why it seems they are taken less seriously?
Still, almost no one bats an eye at man-on-man violence in any medium, books, movies, video games, etc. An interesting case in point is "Fight Club," which was praised by some for validating and embracing aspects of masculinity (Paluhniuk himself championed this). The fact that fighting is considered a masculine act is telling.
