They have impact, sales and everything but they're both really different.
It shows that you don't have to act or perform a certain way to become iconic.

They are very different artists. Almost opposites. Madonna used in your face sexuality to sell her brand, with her pointed bras! LOL. Taylor takes an almost chaste approach. Madonna courted controversy (eg Like A Prayer video), whereas Taylor avoids it. Very different paths to the top. Madonna was like I am a woman and I am kicking your ass. Taylor is just killing everyone with kindness and charm.
Taylor could be bigger than Madonna potentially as she is only 25 and Madonna did not smash until she was 26 with Like A Virgin. I've said it before, even at her peak Madonna had MJ who somewhat overshadowed her. Who is overshadowing Taylor? There is no male act of this generation to overshadow her, when she is outselling them all by a massive degree.
Madonna has had amazing longevity and Taylor has a long way to go to match that, but she has been around for 9 years already. And we've seen how consistently popular she has been and is still growing her fanbase. We all know 1989 World Tour is absolutely massive and yet folks are always lamenting how she could easily make it bigger by adding more concerts.
We are seeing a legend being made before our eyes. I have no doubt about that.
