No. Britney Spears has outsold artists like Cher, Aretha Franklin, Prince, David Bowie, Tina Turner and many more. But you'd be hard pressed to find any person over the age of 16 to call her a legend over any ofbthise artists. Again, sales and popularity does not make a person legendary. Musical influence and impact does that, something Britney lacks.
Britney's impact is outstanding! Only Madonna has bigger! Britney is the one, globally known as a "Princess of Pop" and her songs inspired new artists and are globally remembered!
So i stated my case and am glad the poll isn't a landslide.
Thread should have never existed but they I love both legends: Janet and Britney. I'm glad they admire one another as well.

Prince and David Bowie have sold more albums.
We had this talk a few pages back already.
How does Britney lack impact/influence when Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, BoA, Jessica Simpson, etc. exist?
^^ You stay trying to act like Xtina's a Britney clone. Surely Britney can't sing anything on X's debut like she does, and Reflection from X's debut came 1st before Britney released anything. Clones come after an orginal source like how X released music (from her debut) before Britbrit.
Anyways everything from Brit's career's taken from legends like Madonna, and even artists like Janet.
Britney's hyped Vanguard tribute: a bunch of child slaves because no actual artist wanted to tribute her
Janet upon setting foot in the US: getting a tribute for the second time, by actual artists like Tinashe, Jason Derulo, Ciara, after already being tributed by artists like Beyonce, JT, Outkast, Usher, Pink
Now I don't like how people are downplaying Janet's contribution but it also is not fair for people to discredit Britney's contributions to pop music. So many artists at the time had the opportunity to outdo her and didn't which is why her brand of pop music is evident in many female artists today and they have no problem acknowledging this
Yet ATRL seems to have trouble understanding this
They're just too young to see and pressed to admit.

Everyone knows both names. Britney is more recognizable. Janet is more famous as a name and legacy. Britney's music is more famous.
They're different.
Why id it so hard for them to understand?

To me, Gaga’s simplistic and often silly dance moves seem to be purposeful parodies/commentary of typical pop choreography, a style that was pioneered by the likes of Janet and MJ and then watered down through artists like the Spice Girls, Britney, N*Sync, BSB and the teenpop wave.
In no means did Brit and nsync water down choreo. They may have not been as innovative but they still manage to squeeze out some classic moves all while being known for sharp, fast, elite choreography. Xtina who isn't a strong dancer and BSB who straight up ripped Thriller and Ghost off on the other hand...
Well, I like them both but its more than obvious that Janet was a major influence on Britney and paved the way for many artists like her. They both had huge starpower at their respectable peaks, but Janets legacy and influence is what makes her a bigger legend imo, she is the blueprint along with M and MJ.
