Whenever I did the recaps, any and all songs that shared the same drop/gain were colored in their respective colors.

It's because "Chains" had the biggest drop this week (4 spots). Likewise, "Hey Mama" is in blue because it had the highest gain (5 spots).

Not necessarily, the 20/20 club doesn't exist anymore.
I wish it would die though

26 or 30 weeks before recurrency makes more sense, though few songs appear to reach that mark; I doubt TB even reaches 26 weeks, probably 23-24. When I was younger the VH1 chart moved much slower, with 6 month stays in the Top 10 not that uncommon.
Strange since the Hot 100 is slower now than in the early 2000's; but the Hot AC/Adult Top 40 Chart moves faster due to the forced aggressive recurrency policies not in place 10-15 years ago, and that could influence the VH1 chart more.
As I've said before, aggressive recurrency policies mean what you see on the chart doesn't match what's played on that format's stations, obviously rendering the chart inaccurate and invalid.
For 40 position charts, 20/26 and 10/52 should be used; and for 50 position charts 25/26 and 10/52 should be used, all of the above including four consecutive weeks of losses prior to removal.
That's what the policies were in the beginning, except for Country, which has almost always been overly aggressive in removing its recurrent songs from the charts.
