Saying that the only reason she wins is because she overpowers her opponent or that she wins matches she shouldn't like what kind of bs is that? I have NEVER read things like that when Maria win the French last year with her amazing grit. She got the respect she deserves. Apparently a black woman winning ugly is down to genetics (being born more athletic like she didn't put in the work), down to her serve which gives her cheap points (again she worked on this her whole life), and she's too powerful. Like okay bitches

I just had this conversation with someone and you're completely right. As a strong, black female, the media will always try to reason that her success is not because of her hard work but because of an unfair advantage (greatest serve, athleticism). She'll never truly be respected until years after her retirement when mugs run the tour. She knows this though and I'm convinced this is why she's gunning for history so no one can dispute that she was statistically the best ever.
